Delhivery Successfully Tests Autonomous VTOL Drone for Medical Delivery in Uttar Pradesh
Delhivery completes successful testing of its autonomous VTOL drone in Deoria, Uttar Pradesh, delivering medicines in 12 minutes over 12 km, showcasing the future of aerial logistics in India.
Logistics technology company Delhivery has successfully completed live testing of its autonomous Vertical Take-Off and Landing (VTOL) drone in Deoria, Uttar Pradesh. During the demonstration, the drone autonomously transported a consignment of medical supplies across a pre-programmed distance of 12 kilometers in just 12 minutes.
According to the company, the same journey would normally take up to 40 minutes by road due to poor infrastructure and connectivity challenges. This test highlights the strong potential of drone-based logistics to significantly improve last-mile delivery efficiency in India.
The live trial was conducted in the presence of Deoria Member of Parliament, Shashank Mani, and was executed by Delhivery Robotics India Private Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Delhivery.
The drone used in the demonstration is part of Delhivery’s in-house prototype fleet built using proprietary technology. It is specifically designed to function effectively in difficult terrain and adverse weather conditions. The VTOL aircraft can carry payloads of up to 5 kilograms and operate over distances ranging from 60 to 90 kilometers on a single charge. The company also noted that the drone features a hybrid design that enables both vertical take-off and efficient long-range flight.
