The Mahila Samman Savings Certificate (MSSC) is a special savings scheme introduced by the Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, aimed at strengthening the financial security of women and girl children across India.

Launched in April 2023 and valid until 31 March 2025, the scheme is available through Post Offices and eligible public and private sector banks. It offers a fixed interest rate of 7.5% per annum, compounded quarterly, making it one of the most attractive short-term government savings options for women.

Under this scheme, women can invest a minimum of ₹1,000 and up to a maximum of ₹2,00,000 for a two-year tenure. The account also provides partial withdrawal flexibility, allowing up to 40% withdrawal after one year. Accounts can be opened by adult women or by guardians on behalf of minor girls.
